History of the complex

From big-league spring to youth ball's home

The model space shuttle out front is a nod to Cape Canaveral, about 13 air miles away. Three major league clubs trained here before USSSA rebuilt the park for youth baseball and softball.

1993Apr 29

Ground broken

Brevard County starts building Space Coast Stadium in Viera, a $6.2 million ballpark designed by DLR Group.

1994Mar 2

Opening day

The stadium opens as the spring training home of the Florida Marlins. The Brevard County Manatees of the Florida State League move in for summer ball.

2003Spring

The Expos arrive

The Montreal Expos take over spring training for 2003 and 2004.

2005Spring

Nationals era

The Washington Nationals hold their first spring training here and stay through 2016.

2016Sep

Last pro season

The Nationals move to West Palm Beach and the Manatees play their final game. Brevard County leases the complex to USSSA.

2017Apr

USSSA moves in

After a year-long rebuild of roughly $50 million, the complex reopens with 15 all-turf fields and an 18,000-square-foot Hall of Fame and Museum. USSSA moves its national headquarters to Viera.

2017Jun 8

The Pride play at home

The USSSA Pride professional fastpitch team plays its first home game in the renamed USSSA Space Coast Stadium.

Viera Hawks

Viera High School baseball makes the stadium its home field.

2027Spring

Ten years

A decade as the USSSA Space Coast Complex.

10 years of USSSA Space Coast.

The ballpark that hosted three big-league spring trainings reopened as USSSA's home in 2017. Next spring we celebrate a decade of youth baseball and softball on the Space Coast.
